Here at Approved Building Control we will offer you a seamless approach to the Building Control service from conception through to completion.
Pre- application advice
If you have a project which you are hoping to undertake call one of our surveyors who will be happy to discuss your proposals. We will assign you with a single point of contact for your project in order that you receive consistent professional advice from one of our qualified members of staff.
We always recommend the use of plans for building work as it offers more certainty to you and your builder. You should look at employing a qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist to design your scheme.
Forward a copy of your drawings via email and we can discuss your project online or we will be happy to meet in our offices where we can discuss your project further.

Plan Checking Service
On submission of your project to ourselves we will serve the initial notice on your behalf to the local authority and begin our plan check service.
Once appointed one of our qualified members of staff will be happy to appraise your scheme in accordance with the Building Regulations. We will then advise your designer of any issues identified in order that they are able to alter the design order to achieve compliance.
If required we will also consult with the fire service at this stage as well as the local water authority and forward their comments on to you.
Site Inspection Service
Once you have started on the work on site, we will inspect the works at varying stages of its construction. In line with the site inspection plan that you will receive on appointment.
You or your builder will need to contact us at these stages of the work to allow us to inspect.
Our final job will be to inspect the works on completion. Subject to the work being satisfactory and receipt of relevant client, designer, and contractor declarations we will issue you with a final certificate.
It is important to keep this document as it will be required if you decide to sell your house in the future.
